Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the adventure?

You will be exploring Queensland’s spectacular Scenic Rim over five days and four nights.

Do I have to pay it all upfront?

No. To secure your spot you only need to put down a $1,550 non-refundable deposit upon booking. The remaining balance will be due 60 days out from the retreat.

What is included in the price?

The price includes four nights accommodation, meals and trail snacks, all safety equipment, National Park passes, bus transfers and airport transfers from Gold Coast Airport (if needed).

You will also be closely mentored and coached by seasoned adventurer Bec Fox for the three months leading up to the walk. Through this time you will receive a one-hour one-on-one professional coaching session, vital advice, support, training plans, mindset coaching and loads of motivation, so you are fully prepared to enjoy the adventure at your peak. Access to a private Facebook group will be given for greater support before the walk and will allow you to stay in touch with other walkers after the adventure.

What isn’t included?

It is recommended that you arrive the day before the walk, so you are well rested and have a leisurely morning. Please note that if you do stay the night before, this will be at your own expense. Any alcohol you consume is also not included.

What can I expect?

On day one we’ll explore Mt Gillies where we will enjoy the expansive views of the Scenic Rim from the summit and rock climb on natural cliffs. Day two is Mt Maroon where we’ll pass through rainforest and open forest to where we’ll climb 607m to the summit. Day three we take it easy with a gentle walk to Yellow Pinch lookout and tour around the Scenic Rim tasting treats from local producers.

Day four we explore Mt Barney where we’ll travel 17km and climb and incredible 1121m! Our expert guides will share their knowledge on geology, flora and local history and we’ll celebrate our achievements with a three-course meal and a glass of bubbly. Day five we explore more of the Scenic Rim with a gentle stroll, tour to Mt Tamborine and a visit to Witches Falls Winery and Witches Chase Cheese Factory.

What level of fitness will be required?

The Three Peaks Challenge is designed for people with a high level of fitness, as you will be climbing mountains and walking up to 17kms/12 hours per day.

What is the venue like?

You will be staying in a genuine Queenslander style homestead, with breathtaking mountain views, set in its own private gardens. Home-cooked meals will be served either in the formal dining room or the classic country kitchen.

Please note that accommodation is twin share so you will share a room with another walker. If you would prefer to have a single room, this can be organised for an extra $550 per person.

What will the food be like?

Breakfast will be mostly continental due to our early starts and lunch will be wraps made up on the mountaintop. In the evening you’ll enjoy a home-cooked two-course dinner with lots of fresh, local produce. As we will need to maintain energy and ensure peak performance you can be sure that there will be lots of clean eating including salad and veggies. But it won’t just be vegetarian; you’ll be able to get a good dose of meat too!

Have special dietary requirements? Professional chefs can easily cater for any dietary requirement you may have (just let us know beforehand).

What gear do I need?

A water bottle, linen and all safety equipment are included as part of the walk. We recommend having lace-up hiking boots with good ankle support and a treaded sole. You can check out the full Gear List to ensure you have all of the essential Items.

Why the Three Peaks Challenge?

The Three Peaks Challenge gives you the opportunity to climb three uniquely different and spectacular mountains. Combine that with tours of the South East Queensland Scenic Rim that is known for its culinary delights, and you have a unique experience you’ll never forget.

Mt Barney National Park, which we’ll travel through, is World Heritage-listed site and a wild and beautiful remnant of the ancient Gondwana Rainforest. It is the home to many rare plant species and the rugged peaks are all that remains of the ancient Focal Peak Shield Volcano, which erupted 24 million years ago.

This ultimate test of endurance also gives you a great challenge to work towards and an amazing sense of achievement once completed.
